 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
 memories of James C. Gilbert of Texarkana, who passed away on
 May 19, 2023, at the age of 81; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Watson, Arkansas, on September 13, 1941,
 James Gilbert was the son of G. W. and Alice Gilbert; after
 graduating from high school, he answered his nation's call to duty
 and served in the U.S. Army; he later embarked on a civilian career
 in the wholesale flower business and retired from Greenleaf
 Wholesale Florist after 32 years in the industry; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Gilbert shared more than six decades of marriage
 with his loving wife, Lena; they were the devoted parents of a
 daughter, Sherrie, and a son, Phillip, and with the passing years,
 Mr. Gilbert experienced the joy of seeing his treasured family grow
 to include five grandchildren, Sarah, Kimberly, Phillip, Kayleigh,
 and Matthew, and a step-granddaughter, Shannon, as well as five
 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Gilbert enjoyed grilling
 and deer hunting, and he loved to take trips to casinos; his
 greatest pleasure was hosting crawfish boils each spring; and
 WHEREAS, Although James Gilbert is greatly missed, he has
 left his family and friends with a wealth of memories that they will
 forever cherish; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 1st
 Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of James C. Gilbert
 and extend deepest condolences to the members of his family: to his
 wife, Lena Gilbert; to his daughter, Sherrie Parker, and her
 husband, Danny; to his son, Phillip Gilbert, and his wife, Debi; to
 his sister, Earlene Landry; to his grandchildren,
 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and to his
 many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
 day, it do so in memory of James Gilbert.
