| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their |

| 6 | 6 | | memories of James C. Gilbert of Texarkana, who passed away on |

| 7 | 7 | | May 19, 2023, at the age of 81; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Watson, Arkansas, on September 13, 1941, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | James Gilbert was the son of G. W. and Alice Gilbert; after |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | graduating from high school, he answered his nation's call to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | duty and served in the U.S. Army; he later embarked on a civilian |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | career in the wholesale flower business and retired from |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Greenleaf Wholesale Florist after 32 years in the industry; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Gilbert shared more than six decades of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | marriage with his loving wife, Lena; they were the devoted parents |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | of a daughter, Sherrie, and a son, Phillip, and with the passing |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | years, Mr. Gilbert experienced the joy of seeing his treasured |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | family grow to include five grandchildren, Sarah, Kimberly, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Phillip, Kayleigh, and Matthew, and a step-granddaughter, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Shannon, as well as five great-grandchildren and six |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | great-great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Gilbert enjoyed grilling |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and deer hunting, and he loved to take trips to casinos; his |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | greatest pleasure was hosting crawfish boils each spring; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Although James Gilbert is greatly missed, he has |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | left his family and friends with a wealth of memories that they |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | will forever cherish; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 1st |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of James C. Gilbert |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and extend deepest condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | wife, Lena Gilbert; to his daughter, Sherrie Parker, and her |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | husband, Danny; to his son, Phillip Gilbert, and his wife, Debi; |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | to his sister, Earlene Landry; to his grandchildren, |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and to his |

| 35 | 35 | | many other relatives and friends; and, be it further |

| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
