5	6		WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
6		-	passing of Linda E. Hughes of Albuquerque, New Mexico, on
7		-	~~May 18,~~ 2023, at the age of 81; and
8		-	WHEREAS, The daughter of Louis and Nellie Smith, the
9		-	~~former~~ Linda Smith was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on
10		-	~~January 27, 1942,~~ and she grew up with the companionship of
11		-	~~three siblings, Louis,~~ Martha, and Nelta; she graduated from
12		-	~~Arkansas High School in 1960;~~ and
13		-	WHEREAS, After completing her studies at Dukes Beauty
14		-	~~School,~~ Mrs. Hughes embarked on a rewarding career as a hair
15		-	~~stylist that~~ spanned three and a half decades; in her leisure
16		-	~~hours, she enjoyed~~ gardening and traveling, and she visited Spain,
17		-	~~Germany, and many~~ other states in the U.S.; and
18		-	WHEREAS, Mrs. Hughes benefited from the love and support
19		-	of her husband, Michael, and she took great pride in her sons,
20		-	~~David~~ and Damon, and stepsons, Terry and Greg; over the years,
21		-	~~she had the~~ pleasure of seeing her family grow to include two
22		-	~~grandchildren,~~ Davis and Emily, and two great-grandchildren,
23		-	~~Isabelle and~~ Lillybet; and

24	25		WHEREAS, Although Linda Hughes is greatly missed, this
25	26		beloved woman has left her family and friends with many cherished
26		-	memories, and she will forever hold a special place in their
27		-	hearts; now, therefore, be it
28		-	RESOLVED, That Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
29		-	Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the
30		-	life of Linda E. Hughes and extend heartfelt sympathy to the
31		-	members of her family: to her sons, David and Damon Ivey; to
32		-	her stepsons, Terry and Greg Hughes; to her grandchildren,
33		-	Davis Bentley and Emily Ivey; to her great-grandchildren,
34		-	Isabelle Strange and Lillybet Bayless; and to her other
35		-	relatives and many friends; and, be it further
	27	+	memories, and she will forever hold a special place in their hearts;
	28	+	now, therefore, be it
	29	+	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 1st
	30	+	Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Linda E. Hughes
	31	+	and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of her family: to her
	32	+	sons, David and Damon Ivey; to her stepsons, Terry and Greg Hughes;
	33	+	to her grandchildren, Davis Bentley and Emily Ivey; to her
	34	+	great-grandchildren, Isabelle Strange and Lillybet Bayless; and to
	35	+	her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
36	36		RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
37		-	prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
38		-	this day, it do so in memory of Linda Hughes.
