| 8 | 8 | | through 3, 2023, in Round Rock; competing in the Division 6 |

| 9 | 9 | | largest weekly category, the Pleasanton Express collected 10 |

| 10 | 10 | | awards, finishing second in sports coverage, column writing, and |

| 11 | 11 | | editorial, third in advertising, feature writing, news writing, |

| 12 | 12 | | and sports photography, and fourth in the general excellence, |

| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Gulf Coast Press Association's 2022 |

| 15 | 15 | | winners were announced at the TGCPA annual convention, which took |

| 16 | 16 | | place May 18 through 20, 2023, in Port Aransas; the Pleasanton |

| 17 | 17 | | Express excelled in the Division 2 competition, notching |

| 18 | 18 | | second-place showings in the special section (fire), display |

| 19 | 19 | | advertising, newspaper website, editorial writing, feature |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | photos, and sports coverage categories; moreover, it was third in |

| 21 | 21 | | special section, serious columns, humorous columns, and sports |

| 22 | 22 | | photos, and it won honorable mentions in news photos, feature |

| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Newspapers serve as a vital resource for a |

| 25 | 25 | | well-informed citizenry, and through their important work, the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | talented journalists of the Pleasanton Express are making an |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | invaluable contribution to their community; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the |

| 30 | 30 | | Pleasanton Express on its success in the Texas Press Association |
