2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Marc Nigliazzo is retiring as president of |

3 | 3 | | Texas A&M University-Central Texas on August 31, 2023, drawing to |
---|
4 | 4 | | a close more than a decade of exemplary service; and |
---|
5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Nigliazzo was appointed as the inaugural |
---|
6 | 6 | | president of TAMUCT in April 2010, and he has since worked to |
---|
7 | 7 | | develop the university as an upper-level institution that |
---|
8 | 8 | | provides high quality, rigorous, and innovative academic |
---|
9 | 9 | | programs to a diverse student population; over the course of his |
---|
10 | 10 | | tenure, he has overseen the growth of the university's |
---|
11 | 11 | | undergraduate and graduate degree programs, many of which are |
---|
12 | 12 | | offered both on campus and online, and educational opportunities |
---|
13 | 13 | | for Central Texas residents have expanded significantly; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A native Texan, Dr. Nigliazzo brought to his |
---|
15 | 15 | | position a wealth of experience in higher education, both in the |
---|
16 | 16 | | classroom and in administrative roles; he began his academic |
---|
17 | 17 | | career as an English professor, and he went on to serve as chair |
---|
18 | 18 | | of the Department of English and Philosophy at Del Mar College |
---|
19 | 19 | | and as vice president and dean of instruction at Galveston |
---|
20 | 20 | | College; his first presidential appointment was at Galveston |
---|
21 | 21 | | College, and he later held that position at Temple College from |
---|
22 | 22 | | 1995 to 2008 and at Arizona Western College from 2009 to 2010; he |
---|
23 | 23 | | also served as a senior vice president at the University of New |
---|
24 | 24 | | Mexico for a time; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Through his dedication, expertise, and visionary |
---|
26 | 26 | | leadership, Marc Nigliazzo has played a vital role in advancing |
---|
27 | 27 | | the mission of Texas A&M University-Central Texas, and his |
---|
28 | 28 | | achievements will continue to be appreciated for years to come; |
---|
29 | 29 | | now, therefore, be it |

30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |

31 | 31 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Marc |

32 | 32 | | Nigliazzo on his retirement as president of Texas A&M |

33 | 33 | | University-Central Texas and extend to him sincere best wishes |
