| 5 | 5 | | BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Texas, That |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the Permanent Rules of the Senate, 88th Legislature, be amended |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | by amending Rule 1.04 to read as follows: |

| 8 | 8 | | Rule 1.04. A Secretary, Journal Clerk, Calendar Clerk, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Enrolling Clerk, Sergeant at Arms, Doorkeeper, Chaplain, and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | such other officers as a majority vote may determine to be |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | necessary shall be elected at the opening of the session of the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Legislature to continue in office until discharged by the Senate |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and shall perform such duties as may be incumbent upon them in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | their respective offices, under the direction of the Senate. |

| 15 | 15 | | Such officers may not be related to any current member of the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Texas Legislature nor may any employee of the Senate be related |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | to any current member of the Texas Legislature, unless such |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | employee has held a position in the Senate for at least 12 months |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | immediately prior to the election of the member of the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | legislature. The Secretary of the Senate shall, in addition to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | other duties, be responsible for the coordination of the other |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | offices and divisions of the Senate. |
