2- WHEREAS, Dr. Saul Hinojosa has retired as superintendent
3- of the Somerset Independent School District, drawing to a
4- close an outstanding tenure with the district that spanned two
5- decades; and
6- WHEREAS, One of the longest-serving superintendents in
7- the region, Dr. Hinojosa began his career with Somerset ISD as
8- a teacher; he previously served as an assistant principal at
9- Southside ISD and as a government and history teacher and
10- football and baseball coach in McAllen ISD; he assumed the role
11- of superintendent of Somerset ISD in 2007, and under his able
12- leadership, the district has overcome numerous challenges to
13- earn an A accountability rating from the Texas Education
14- Agency; and
15- WHEREAS, Dr. Hinojosa plans to continue his service in
16- the field of education in his retirement; he currently works as
17- a search consultant for Walsh Gallegos, a major law firm that
18- assists school districts across the state in vetting and
19- selecting superintendent candidates; and

6+ WHEREAS, Dr. Saul Hinojosa has retired as superintendent of
7+ the Somerset Independent School District, drawing to a close an

10+ region, Dr. Hinojosa began his career with Somerset ISD as a

21- commitment to excellence, Dr. Saul Hinojosa has helped many

23- succeed, and his contributions will be remembered and
24- appreciated for years to come; now, therefore, be it
25- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
26- Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Saul
27- Hinojosa on his retirement as superintendent of the Somerset
28- Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes
29- for continued success; and, be it further
