9 | 9 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 3, Article VII, Texas Constitution, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (f) Notwithstanding any other provision of this | |
13 | 13 | constitution or general law, a school district, other than a junior | |
14 | 14 | college district, may not impose an ad valorem tax for maintenance | |
15 | 15 | and operations purposes for any tax year after the 2038 tax year. | |
16 | 16 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
17 | 17 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2023. | |
18 | 18 | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | |
19 | 19 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment prohibiting school | |
20 | 20 | district maintenance and operations ad valorem taxes after the 2038 | |
21 | 21 | tax year." |
