| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The family and friends of Patrick Michael Escalante |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of Victoria suffered an immeasurable loss with his death on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | June 30, 2023, at the age of 30; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on October 2, 1992, Patrick Escalante was the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | only child of Ernesto G. and Deborah Villafranca Escalante, and he |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | grew up as part of a loving extended family that included his |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | grandparents as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, An alumnus of the Nazareth Academy, Mr. Escalante |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | continued his education at Victoria West High School and graduated |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | with the Class of 2012; he participated in Cub Scouts in his youth, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and he later became a temporary member of the ROTC; sustained by a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | deep and abiding faith, he was an altar server at Our Lady of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Sorrows Catholic Church; he was also passionate about fishing, the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Club Westerner, and Mumphord's Place BBQ, and despite being |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | surrounded by Dallas Cowboys fans, he was a staunch supporter of the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Green Bay Packers; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Although his time on this earth ended far too soon, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | those fortunate enough to have known Patrick Escalante will always |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | remember the way he touched their lives with his infectious smile, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | his larger-than-life personality, and his determined spirit, and he |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | will forever hold a treasured place in their hearts; now, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | therefore, be it |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | of Patrick Michael Escalante and extend deepest condolences to the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | members of his family: to his parents, Ernesto G. and Deborah |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Villafranca Escalante; to his grandparents, Edward and Augustina |

| 32 | 32 | | Guerra Moya; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it |
