H.R. No. 15
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jacob Gholston of Flower Mound High School has been
named the 2023 Baseball Player of the Year by the Dallas Morning
News; and
WHEREAS, During his exemplary senior season, Mr. Gholston
anchored the Jaguars' pitching staff and helped guide the team to
the 6A state championship; in the regional final against Denton
Guyer, he delivered a clutch performance, throwing 6.2 scoreless
innings as Flower Mound clinched a trip to the state tournament;
over the course of the season, he struck out 111 batters in 87
innings while posting an impressive 0.96 ERA and a 12-2 record; and
WHEREAS, Ranked as one of the top 400 prospects in the nation
by Baseball America, Mr. Gholston has committed to pitch for the
University of Oklahoma Sooners; he has further distinguished
himself during his high school years as a member of the Flower Mound
basketball team; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has proven himself to
be a gifted and dedicated student-athlete, and he may take
justifiable pride in his accomplishments as he looks forward to a
future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Jacob
Gholston on being selected as the 2023 Baseball Player of the Year
by the Dallas Morning News and extend to him sincere best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Gholston as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
