| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Frances Tankersley Messer is celebrating her 100th |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | birthday on September 23, 2023, and this occasion provides a |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | welcome opportunity for family and friends to express the love and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | affection they hold for her; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The former Frances Tankersley was born in Abilene in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 1923 to William Gaddis Tankersley and Mary Lea Pinegar Tankersley, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and she grew up with three siblings, Cleon, Randall, and Billye |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Jean; her family relocated to Shamrock, Oklahoma, and then to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Austin, where she graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | was a member of the Red Jackets dance team; she earned a pharmacy |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | degree from The University of Texas in 1944, and she became one of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | only a few women working as a pharmacist at the time; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, She met her future husband, James Bauerle, when she |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | was a student at UT, and the couple were blessed with three |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | children; in the early 1950s, Mrs. Messer and her family moved to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | San Antonio, and there she became an active volunteer with local and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | statewide dental auxiliaries and with her church; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Today, Mrs. Messer is the proud matriarch of a |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | family that includes her three daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and Jack Pool, Nancy and Grover Campbell, and Janet and Greg |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Anderson, her five grandchildren, Jeff, Logan, Lee, Elizabeth, and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | William, and her three great-grandchildren, Tiegan, Hunter, and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Henley; a woman of many interests and talents, she is a loyal UT |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | football fan and a gifted cook, and she has traveled to numerous |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | countries around the world; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Frances Messer is a source of tremendous |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | inspiration, and in sharing the experience gained through a century |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | of life well lived, she bestows a precious gift of wisdom that |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | benefits all who are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, |

| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 36 | 36 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Frances |
