5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Marc Nigliazzo is retiring as president of Texas |

6 | 6 | | A&M University-Central Texas on August 31, 2023, drawing to a close |
---|
7 | 7 | | more than a decade of exemplary service; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Nigliazzo was appointed as the inaugural |
---|
9 | 9 | | president of TAMUCT in April 2010, and he has since worked to |
---|
10 | 10 | | develop the university as an upper-level institution that provides |
---|
11 | 11 | | high quality, rigorous, and innovative academic programs to a |
---|
12 | 12 | | diverse student population; over the course of his tenure, he has |
---|
13 | 13 | | overseen the growth of the university's undergraduate and graduate |
---|
14 | 14 | | degree programs, many of which are offered both on campus and |
---|
15 | 15 | | online, and educational opportunities for Central Texas residents |
---|
16 | 16 | | have expanded significantly; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, A native Texan, Dr. Nigliazzo brought to his |
---|
18 | 18 | | position a wealth of experience in higher education, both in the |
---|
19 | 19 | | classroom and in administrative roles; he began his academic career |
---|
20 | 20 | | as an English professor, and he went on to serve as chair of the |
---|
21 | 21 | | Department of English and Philosophy at Del Mar College and as vice |
---|
22 | 22 | | president and dean of instruction at Galveston College; his first |
---|
23 | 23 | | presidential appointment was at Galveston College, and he later |
---|
24 | 24 | | held that position at Temple College from 1995 to 2008 and at |
---|
25 | 25 | | Arizona Western College from 2009 to 2010; he also served as a |
---|
26 | 26 | | senior vice president at the University of New Mexico for a time; |
---|
27 | 27 | | and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Through his dedication, expertise, and visionary |
---|
29 | 29 | | leadership, Marc Nigliazzo has played a vital role in advancing the |
---|
30 | 30 | | mission of Texas A&M University-Central Texas, and his achievements |
---|
31 | 31 | | will continue to be appreciated for years to come; now, therefore, |

33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

34 | 34 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Marc |
