2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

3 | 3 | | recognize Rebecca Smith on her outstanding counseling and |

4 | 4 | | guidance services to families and children in Montgomery and |
---|
5 | 5 | | Harris Counties; and |
---|
6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Rebecca Smith is a licensed professional |
---|
7 | 7 | | counselor who specializes in youth counseling, family |
---|
8 | 8 | | mediations, high-conflict divorce, custody modification, and |
---|
9 | 9 | | family reunification; she holds a bachelor's degree from |
---|
10 | 10 | | Southwest Texas State University and a master's degree in |
---|
11 | 11 | | counseling from Sam Houston State University; Rebecca has |
---|
12 | 12 | | counseled more than 7,000 individuals and families since she |
---|
13 | 13 | | started working with children in 1995; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Rebecca began her work in the field of mental |
---|
15 | 15 | | health in 2003; in 2006, she founded Love Heals Youth, a |
---|
16 | 16 | | nonprofit organization that provides free mental health services |
---|
17 | 17 | | in addition to clothing, hygiene items, and tutoring services to |
---|
18 | 18 | | foster youth; under Rebecca's leadership, Love Heals Youth has |
---|
19 | 19 | | helped provide care for countless young people, and in 2022, the |
---|
20 | 20 | | foundation registered more than 1,500 hours of counseling |
---|
21 | 21 | | services for children in four foster group homes and in five |
---|
22 | 22 | | homeless shelters and nonprofit organizations; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Committed to restoring separated families, |
---|
24 | 24 | | Rebecca has organized workshops, training programs, and |
---|
25 | 25 | | reunification retreats for families going through high-conflict |
---|
26 | 26 | | divorces and custody proceedings; the founder of Counseling |
---|
27 | 27 | | CenterofMontgomeryCountyandAlliedCoparentingandFamily |
---|
28 | 28 | | Academy, Rebecca works closely with Harris County family law |
---|
29 | 29 | | courts and assists the Counseling Center of Montgomery County |
---|
30 | 30 | | courts' DWI and Drug Court Treatment programs; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Extolled for her spirit of generosity, Rebecca has |
---|
32 | 32 | | served in leadership positions on several boards that promote |
---|
33 | 33 | | family and child welfare and mental health, and she developed a |
---|
34 | 34 | | comprehensive internship program for aspiring counselors to |
---|
35 | 35 | | complete their degree requirements for licensure; an inspiration |
---|
36 | 36 | | to her clients, friends, and colleagues, Rebecca is truly |
---|
37 | 37 | | deserving of special recognition for her dedication to youth and |
---|
38 | 38 | | to family wellness and for her invaluable service to the residents |
---|
39 | 39 | | of Montgomery and Harris Counties; now, therefore, be it |
---|
40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
---|
41 | 41 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Rebecca Smith on |
---|
42 | 42 | | her many contributions to foster youth and families in Montgomery |
---|
43 | 43 | | and Harris Counties and extend to her sincere best wishes for the |
---|
44 | 44 | | future; and, be it further |
