5+ SENATE RESOLUTION
26 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
37 recognize the staff of the Sunset Advisory Commission for its
48 dedicated service to the State of Texas; and
5- WHEREAS, The Sunset Advisory Commission was created by
6- the Texas Legislature in 1977 to increase government
7- accountability and efficiency; the commission was formed
8- during a time when widespread public concern over the
9- expanding power of federal and state agencies led to the
10- formation of a state accountability and assessment agency that
11- would provide a way for legislatures to monitor the need for
12- and value of state programs and bureaucracies; and
9+ WHEREAS, The Sunset Advisory Commission was created by the
10+ Texas Legislature in 1977 to increase government accountability

17- and commitment to excellence, including the National Legislative
18- Program Evaluation Society's Impact Award in 2019 and 2021; and

22- Wilson, assistant director of operations; Emily Johnson, review
23- director; Erick Fajardo, review director; Robert Romig, review
24- director; and Janet Wood, office manager; and staffed by Andy
25- McConnell, Anthony Ellis, Austin Oliver, Carl Perry, Chris Keslar,
26- Darren McDivitt, Elizabeth Jones, Katherina Wierschke, Katherine
27- Durain, Lauren Ames, Monica Hernandez, Rachel Gandy, Sadie Smeck,
28- Sarah Gruen, Senaida San Miguel, and Will Bucknall; and

2935 WHEREAS, These public servants have fulfilled their many
3036 responsibilities on the Sunset Advisory Commission with due
3137 diligence and integrity, and they are truly deserving of special
3238 recognition for their invaluable contributions to the
3339 legislative oversight of Texas state agencies and for their
3440 faithful service to the people of Texas; now, therefore, be it
3541 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
3642 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend the
3743 distinguished staff of the Sunset Advisory Commission for their
3844 outstanding service to the State of Texas; and, be it further
3945 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4046 them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
