26 WHEREAS, Dallas Area Rapid Transit is celebrating the 40th
37 anniversary of its founding on August 16, 2023, and this occasion
48 provides a fitting opportunity to recognize the agency for its
59 vital contributions to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex; and
6- WHEREAS, Created on August 13, 1983, as a replacement for
7- the Dallas Transit System, the DART regional transit agency
8- serves a 700-square-mile area that includes Dallas as well as 12
9- surrounding communities: Addison, Carrollton, Cockrell Hill,
10- Farmers Branch, Garland, Glenn Heights, Highland Park, Irving,
11- Richardson, Rowlett, Plano, and University Park; and
10+ WHEREAS, Created on August 13, 1983, as a replacement for the
11+ Dallas Transit System, the DART regional transit agency serves a
12+ 700-square-mile area that includes Dallas as well as 12 surrounding
13+ communities: Addison, Carrollton, Cockrell Hill, Farmers Branch,
14+ Garland, Glenn Heights, Highland Park, Irving, Richardson,
15+ Rowlett, Plano, and University Park; and
1216 WHEREAS, DART offers a variety of transit options, such as
13- bus routes, DART Light Rail, Trinity Railway Express commuter
14- rail, and GoLink on-demand and paratransit services;
15- transporting more than 220,000 passengers each day, the system
16- encompasses a fleet of nearly 700 buses and the longest light
17- rail system in the U.S.; moreover, the DART Police Department is
18- one of the largest police departments in North Texas; and

2024 innovative, affordable, reliable, and safe mobility options that

2226 region, and it is indispensable to the transportation
2327 infrastructure in Dallas and beyond; now, therefore, be it
24- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
25- Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 40th
26- anniversary of Dallas Area Rapid Transit and extend to the agency
27- sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
28+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 2nd
29+ Called Session, hereby commemorate the 40th anniversary of Dallas
30+ Area Rapid Transit and extend to the agency sincere best wishes for
31+ continued success; and, be it further
