5+ SENATE RESOLUTION
26 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
37 recognize the affiliates of Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic
48 and Academic Development on the occasion of the organization's
59 30th anniversary; and
610 WHEREAS, Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic
711 Development, also known as RGV LEAD, is a Texas nonprofit and
812 federal 501c3 organization that promotes college and career
913 readiness and encourages schools, community leaders, and
1014 employers to prepare students for employment and help them
1115 develop the skills and expertise that will prepare them to meet
1216 their scholastic and professional goals; and
1317 WHEREAS, Founded in 1992 by Patricia Bubb, RGV LEAD builds
1418 partnerships between education and industry to cultivate smooth
1519 and successful transitions between the educational setting and
1620 occupational and professional success; and
1721 WHEREAS, Throughout its existence, RGV LEAD has
1822 collaborated with school districts, colleges, and businesses to
1923 offer career guidance to its students and to equip students with
2024 the skills that will ensure them employment in the area's
2125 workforce; and
2226 WHEREAS, RGV LEAD has led the regional effort to improve
2327 graduation and college enrollment rates, to foster workforce
2428 readiness in graduates and to supply employers with an educated,
2529 skilled workforce; now, therefore, be it
2630 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
2731 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend the partners and
2832 staff of Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic
2933 Development on their contributions to higher education and
3034 economic development in the Rio Grande Valley over the past 30
3135 years; and, be it further
3236 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3337 them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
