2	6		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	7		recognize the affiliates of Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic
4	8		and Academic Development on the occasion of the organization's
5	9		30th anniversary; and
6	10		WHEREAS, Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic
7	11		Development, also known as RGV LEAD, is a Texas nonprofit and
8	12		federal 501c3 organization that promotes college and career
9	13		readiness and encourages schools, community leaders, and
10	14		employers to prepare students for employment and help them
11	15		develop the skills and expertise that will prepare them to meet
12	16		their scholastic and professional goals; and
13	17		WHEREAS, Founded in 1992 by Patricia Bubb, RGV LEAD builds
14	18		partnerships between education and industry to cultivate smooth
15	19		and successful transitions between the educational setting and
16	20		occupational and professional success; and
17	21		WHEREAS, Throughout its existence, RGV LEAD has
18	22		collaborated with school districts, colleges, and businesses to
19	23		offer career guidance to its students and to equip students with
20	24		the skills that will ensure them employment in the area's
21	25		workforce; and
22	26		WHEREAS, RGV LEAD has led the regional effort to improve
23	27		graduation and college enrollment rates, to foster workforce
24	28		readiness in graduates and to supply employers with an educated,
25	29		skilled workforce; now, therefore, be it
26	30		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
27	31		Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend the partners and
28	32		staff of Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic
29	33		Development on their contributions to higher education and
30	34		economic development in the Rio Grande Valley over the past 30
31	35		years; and, be it further
32	36		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
33	37		them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
