| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 44, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | amended by adding Section 44.012 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Sec. 44.012. POSTING ON WEBSITE OF INFORMATION REGARDING |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | SOURCES AND USES OF MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS REVENUE. (a) This |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | subsection applies only to a school district that has a wealth per |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | student that exceeds the amount specified by Section 41.002(a)(1) |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and that, for the school year beginning in the current tax year, has |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | entered into an agreement with the commissioner to purchase average |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | daily attendance credits as provided by Subchapter D, Chapter 41, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | in an amount sufficient, in combination with any other actions |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | taken under that chapter, to reduce the school district's wealth |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | per student to a level that is equal to or less than the equalized |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | wealth level as determined by the commissioner under that chapter. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | If the school district maintains a generally accessible Internet |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | website, the school district shall post on the website: |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (1) the percentage of the taxes for maintenance and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | operations imposed by the school district for the current tax year |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | that the school district is required to pay under the agreement for |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the school year beginning in the current tax year to purchase |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | average daily attendance credits; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (2) the percentage of the taxes for maintenance and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | operations imposed by the school district for the current tax year |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | that the school district is not required to pay under the agreement |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | for the school year beginning in the current tax year to purchase |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | average daily attendance credits. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | (b) This subsection applies only to a school district to |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | which Subsection (a) does not apply. If the school district |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | maintains a generally accessible Internet website, the school |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | district shall post on the website: |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | (1) the percentage of the maintenance and operations |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | revenue of the school district for the school year beginning in the |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | current tax year that is derived from taxes for maintenance and |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | operations imposed by the school district for the current tax year; |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | (2) the percentage of the maintenance and operations |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | revenue of the school district for the school year beginning in the |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | preceding tax year that was derived from taxes for maintenance and |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | operations imposed by the school district for the preceding tax |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | year; |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | (3) the percentage of the maintenance and operations |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | revenue of the school district for the school year beginning in the |
|---|
| 49 | 49 | | current tax year that is derived from state funds distributed to the |
|---|
| 50 | 50 | | school district; and |
|---|
| 51 | 51 | | (4) the percentage of the maintenance and operations |
|---|
| 52 | 52 | | revenue of the school district for the school year beginning in the |
|---|
| 53 | 53 | | preceding tax year that was derived from state funds distributed to |
|---|
| 54 | 54 | | the school district. |
|---|
| 55 | 55 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2024. |
