| 7 | 7 | | relating to the offering of certain high school courses for which |

| 8 | 8 | | students may earn college credit. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 28.009, Education Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | adding Subsection (a-6) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (a-6) A governmental entity or state officer may not |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | prohibit an international baccalaureate course, an advanced |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | placement course, or any instructional component of a course for |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | which an accredited institution of higher education in this state |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | awards course credit in the subject for the achievement of a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | required score on a College-Level Examination Program examination, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | an advanced placement test, or an international baccalaureate |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | examination from being offered to students. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2024-2025 |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | school year. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | legislative session. |
