6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A Fox News border correspondent reported in summer |

7 | 7 | | 2023 that U.S. Customs and Border Protection guards were cutting |

8 | 8 | | the barbed wire barrier on private property in Eagle Pass to allow |
---|
9 | 9 | | undocumented immigrants to enter; and |
---|
10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The State of Texas installed the barbed wire along |
---|
11 | 11 | | the border to prevent unlawful entries; the reporter received video |
---|
12 | 12 | | from a source in Eagle Pass showing the Border Patrol slicing |
---|
13 | 13 | | through the wire, and subsequently spoke to the Texas Department of |
---|
14 | 14 | | Public Safety, which indicated that DPS had permission from the |
---|
15 | 15 | | property owner to lay down razor wire and arrest migrants for |
---|
16 | 16 | | criminal trespass; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The actions by the Border Patrol facilitating the |
---|
18 | 18 | | entry of undocumented immigrants represent serious interference |
---|
19 | 19 | | with our state's obligation to protect its citizens and their |
---|
20 | 20 | | property; now, therefore, be it |
---|
21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas, |
---|
22 | 22 | | 3rd Called Session, hereby respectfully urge the Texas attorney |
---|
23 | 23 | | general to file suit against the federal government for injunctive |
---|
24 | 24 | | relief from the Border Patrol's practice of destroying barriers |
---|
25 | 25 | | placed by Texas along its international border; and, be it further |
---|
26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Texas secretary of state forward an |
---|
27 | 27 | | official copy of this resolution to the Texas attorney general. |
