55 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
66 WHEREAS, A Fox News border correspondent reported in summer
77 2023 that U.S. Customs and Border Protection guards were cutting
88 the barbed wire barrier on private property in Eagle Pass to allow
99 undocumented immigrants to enter; and
1010 WHEREAS, The State of Texas installed the barbed wire along
1111 the border to prevent unlawful entries; the reporter received video
1212 from a source in Eagle Pass showing the Border Patrol slicing
1313 through the wire, and subsequently spoke to the Texas Department of
1414 Public Safety, which indicated that DPS had permission from the
1515 property owner to lay down razor wire and arrest migrants for
1616 criminal trespass; and
1717 WHEREAS, The actions by the Border Patrol facilitating the
1818 entry of undocumented immigrants represent serious interference
1919 with our state's obligation to protect its citizens and their
2020 property; now, therefore, be it
2121 RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas,
2222 3rd Called Session, hereby respectfully urge the Texas attorney
2323 general to file suit against the federal government for injunctive
2424 relief from the Border Patrol's practice of destroying barriers
2525 placed by Texas along its international border; and, be it further
2626 RESOLVED, That the Texas secretary of state forward an
2727 official copy of this resolution to the Texas attorney general.
