5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
---|
6 | 6 | | passing of Margaret Bryan of Corpus Christi on September 25, 2023, |
---|
7 | 7 | | at the age of 82; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Anita and Juan Montez, the former |
---|
9 | 9 | | "Peggy" Montez was born in Corpus Christi on August 19, 1941, and |
---|
10 | 10 | | she grew up with the companionship of two siblings, Gloria and Juan; |
---|
11 | 11 | | and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, She married Richard A. Bryan, with whom she shared a |
---|
13 | 13 | | fulfilling union that spanned more than five decades until his |
---|
14 | 14 | | passing in 2012; Mrs. Bryan was the devoted mother of five sons, |
---|
15 | 15 | | David, Michael, John, Christopher, and the late Richard A. Bryan |
---|
16 | 16 | | Jr., and with the passing years, she had the pleasure of watching |
---|
17 | 17 | | her family grow to include six grandsons, Matthew, Patrick, Gus, |
---|
18 | 18 | | Willie, Jonah, and Christian, as well as two great-grandchildren; |
---|
19 | 19 | | and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A woman of deep faith, Mrs. Bryan worked for the |
---|
21 | 21 | | Diocese of Corpus Christi for a number of years, supporting the |
---|
22 | 22 | | bishop and the office of the chancery; she was an active congregant |
---|
23 | 23 | | of Christ the King Parish and served as a Eucharist minister, CCD |
---|
24 | 24 | | educator, and baptismal instructor; moreover, she was a member of |
---|
25 | 25 | | the parish council, mothers group, Catholic Daughters of the |
---|
26 | 26 | | Americas, altar society, and school board, and she held numerous |
---|
27 | 27 | | leadership roles within the Schoenstatt Movement, including |
---|
28 | 28 | | diocesan leader; she further benefited her fellow citizens through |
---|
29 | 29 | | her volunteer efforts with such worthy causes and organizations as |
---|
30 | 30 | | Loaves & Fishes; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, In her earlier years, Mrs. Bryan enjoyed spontaneous |
---|
32 | 32 | | trips out of town and a variety of outdoor activities, such as |
---|
33 | 33 | | camping, fishing, and crabbing; she loved music, animals, and |
---|
34 | 34 | | sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, and she was an excellent |
---|
35 | 35 | | cook, often using her skills to prepare favorite recipes for family |
---|
36 | 36 | | barbecues and other gatherings; and |
---|
37 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Although Peggy Bryan is greatly missed, she has left |
---|
38 | 38 | | her loved ones with many cherished memories, and she will forever |
---|
39 | 39 | | hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
41 | 41 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
---|
42 | 42 | | of Margaret Bryan and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn |
---|
43 | 43 | | her passing; and, be it further |
---|
44 | 44 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
---|
45 | 45 | | prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
---|
46 | 46 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Peggy |
---|
47 | 47 | | Bryan. |
