44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
66 passing of Margaret Bryan of Corpus Christi on September 25, 2023,
77 at the age of 82; and
88 WHEREAS, The daughter of Anita and Juan Montez, the former
99 "Peggy" Montez was born in Corpus Christi on August 19, 1941, and
1010 she grew up with the companionship of two siblings, Gloria and Juan;
1111 and
1212 WHEREAS, She married Richard A. Bryan, with whom she shared a
1313 fulfilling union that spanned more than five decades until his
1414 passing in 2012; Mrs. Bryan was the devoted mother of five sons,
1515 David, Michael, John, Christopher, and the late Richard A. Bryan
1616 Jr., and with the passing years, she had the pleasure of watching
1717 her family grow to include six grandsons, Matthew, Patrick, Gus,
1818 Willie, Jonah, and Christian, as well as two great-grandchildren;
1919 and
2020 WHEREAS, A woman of deep faith, Mrs. Bryan worked for the
2121 Diocese of Corpus Christi for a number of years, supporting the
2222 bishop and the office of the chancery; she was an active congregant
2323 of Christ the King Parish and served as a Eucharist minister, CCD
2424 educator, and baptismal instructor; moreover, she was a member of
2525 the parish council, mothers group, Catholic Daughters of the
2626 Americas, altar society, and school board, and she held numerous
2727 leadership roles within the Schoenstatt Movement, including
2828 diocesan leader; she further benefited her fellow citizens through
2929 her volunteer efforts with such worthy causes and organizations as
3030 Loaves & Fishes; and
3131 WHEREAS, In her earlier years, Mrs. Bryan enjoyed spontaneous
3232 trips out of town and a variety of outdoor activities, such as
3333 camping, fishing, and crabbing; she loved music, animals, and
3434 sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, and she was an excellent
3535 cook, often using her skills to prepare favorite recipes for family
3636 barbecues and other gatherings; and
3737 WHEREAS, Although Peggy Bryan is greatly missed, she has left
3838 her loved ones with many cherished memories, and she will forever
3939 hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
4040 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
4141 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
4242 of Margaret Bryan and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn
4343 her passing; and, be it further
4444 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4545 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4646 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Peggy
4747 Bryan.
