| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The family and friends of Cody Ryan Perez of Corpus |

| 6 | 6 | | Christi suffered an immeasurable loss with his death on August 13, |

| 7 | 7 | | 2023, at the age of 29; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Corpus Christi on December 3, 1993, Cody |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Perez was the son of Cynthia Perez; he was raised with the help of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | his mother's family and later formed a relationship with his |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | brother, Fermin; passionate about baseball from an early age, he |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | played shortstop for the Trojans at Foy H. Moody High School, and he |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | graduated 10th in his class in 2012; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Perez went on to attend New Mexico Junior |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | College on a full baseball scholarship, and he continued his |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | baseball career and education at Coastal Bend College, earning an |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Associate of Science degree in Kinesiology; at Texas A&M |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | International University, he was a member of the Dustdevils |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | baseball team and received a Bachelor of Science degree in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Kinesiology with a minor in Biology; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In 2016, Mr. Perez embarked on a career in education |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | at Bishop High School; a gifted mentor, he excelled in teaching |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and in coaching football and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | baseball; along the way, he earned a Master's degree in Educational |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Leadership and Policy Studies from The University of Texas at |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Arlington, and he also began working toward his Administrative |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | certification; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Beloved for his smile and his sense of humor, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Mr. Perez enjoyed engaging in friendly competition; he was an avid |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | supporter of the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys, and he was |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | devoted to his Labradoodle, Dansby James; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Cody Perez touched the lives of everyone around him |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | in ways beyond measure, and although he is profoundly missed, he |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | will forever hold a treasured place in their hearts; now, |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | of Cody Ryan Perez and extend sincere condolences to all those who |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | mourn his passing; and, be it further |

| 40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

|---|
| 42 | 42 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cody Perez. |
