5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Norma Garza Nunez is retiring from the City of |

6 | 6 | | Robstown and Robstown Utility Systems on December 31, 2023, drawing |
---|
7 | 7 | | to a close an exemplary career in public service that has spanned |
---|
8 | 8 | | four and a half decades; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Norma Nunez began working for the City of Robstown |
---|
10 | 10 | | as a clerk in the administration department on September 1, 1977, |
---|
11 | 11 | | and she has gone on to serve as a clerk in the inspection |
---|
12 | 12 | | department, a clerk II in the administration department, a payroll |
---|
13 | 13 | | clerk, an administrative assistant, interim city secretary, and |
---|
14 | 14 | | civil service director; over the course of her lengthy tenure with |
---|
15 | 15 | | the city, she has worked under 15 mayors, and her wide-ranging |
---|
16 | 16 | | responsibilities have included supervising city elections, |
---|
17 | 17 | | preparing and reviewing policies, resolutions, and proclamations, |
---|
18 | 18 | | and acting as a liaison between the Civil Service Commission and |
---|
19 | 19 | | firefighters and police officers; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, After 25 years of service, Mrs. Nunez briefly left |
---|
21 | 21 | | the City of Robstown and went to work for Wesley Community Center |
---|
22 | 22 | | for 18 months; she rejoined the city as an administrative assistant |
---|
23 | 23 | | with Robstown Utility Systems, a position she has held for the past |
---|
24 | 24 | | two decades, and she has served as Robstown's civil service |
---|
25 | 25 | | director since January 2021; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Nunez has further contributed to her community |
---|
27 | 27 | | as a member of the Wesley Community Center Board of Directors and as |
---|
28 | 28 | | treasurer of the Cotton Community Partnership Board of Directors; |
---|
29 | 29 | | in all her endeavors, she enjoys the love and support of her |
---|
30 | 30 | | husband, Mario Nunez, as well as her children, Richard and Roxanne, |
---|
31 | 31 | | and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and |
---|
32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Through her dedication, expertise, and commitment |
---|
33 | 33 | | to excellence, Norma Nunez has greatly benefited her fellow |
---|
34 | 34 | | citizens and earned the lasting respect and admiration of her |
---|
35 | 35 | | colleagues, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well |
---|
36 | 36 | | spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; now, |
---|
37 | 37 | | therefore, be it |

38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

39 | 39 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Norma Garza |
---|
40 | 40 | | Nunez on her retirement from the City of Robstown and Robstown |

41 | 41 | | Utility Systems and extend to her sincere best wishes for the |
