| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |

| 6 | 6 | | a close with the passing of the Reverend Guadalupe Fonseca of San |

| 7 | 7 | | Antonio on October 18, 2023, at the age of 91; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Celso and Nemesia Fonseca, Guadalupe |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Fonseca was born in El Paso on July 10, 1932; he answered the call to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the ministry and became the pastor of Iglesia Sur Zarzamora Baptist |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Church; over the course of 45 years, he led the congregation in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | worship and provided spiritual guidance and consolation, and he |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | distributed tracts weekly to offer hope to those in need; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Reverend Fonseca shared 74 years of marriage with |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | his wife, Isabel Fonseca; he took great pride in his children, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Thomas, Edward, Freddie, Dolores, Susan, and Monica, and through |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the years, his treasured family grew to include 16 grandchildren |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and 15 great-grandchildren; he was preceded in death by his son, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Thomas, granddaughter Monnette Vierya, and son-in-law Rudy |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Martinez; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his faith and his family, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Guadalupe Fonseca earned the lasting respect and admiration of all |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | who were privileged to know him, and they will forever cherish their |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | memories of his warmth, kindness, and wonderful sense of humor; |

| 25 | 25 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |

| 28 | 28 | | the Reverend Guadalupe Fonseca and extend sincere condolences to |

| 29 | 29 | | the members of his family: to his wife, Isabel Fonseca; to his |

| 30 | 30 | | children, Edward Fonseca and his wife, Frenchy, Freddie Fonseca and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | his wife, Rosie, Dolores Martinez, Susan Martinez and her husband, |
