| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, Inc., in San |

| 6 | 6 | | Antonio is marking its 20th anniversary in October 2023; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The company broke ground on the San Antonio plant in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 2003 and started production three years later; representing a $4.2 |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | billion investment in the Lone Star State, the plant has assembled |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | over 3 million vehicles in the years since, and it is currently the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | only manufacturer in the world that produces the Tundra truck and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the Sequoia SUV; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, In addition to creating thousands of well-paying |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | jobs, TMMTX has contributed to the community by donating more than |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | $50 million to area nonprofits; over the years, the company has |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | supported various educational initiatives and given generously to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | such organizations as United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the San Antonio Food Bank, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and El Centro del Barrio; in celebration of its 20th anniversary, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the company donated a total of $100,000 to the Institute for School |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and Community Partnership at Texas A&M University-San Antonio and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | The 100 Club of San Antonio, which benefits law enforcement and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | firefighters in Bexar County; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Businesses that employ Texans and that contribute to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the local economy are important components of a prosperous future, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, Inc., is deserving of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | recognition for the positive role it has played in the San Antonio |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | community for the past two decades; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Toyota Motor |

| 31 | 31 | | Manufacturing, Texas, Inc., in San Antonio on its 20th anniversary |

| 32 | 32 | | and extend to all those associated with the plant sincere best |
