| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Rene Alvarez served his country with great honor and |

| 7 | 7 | | being recognized for his contributions at the 27th Annual San |

| 8 | 8 | | Elizario Veterans Day Celebration on November 11, 2023; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Originally celebrated as Armistice Day in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | recognition of the end of World War I, Veterans Day now honors all |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | who have served in the armed forces, including the former members of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, Coast |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Guard, and National Guard; by upholding America's foundational |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | values of selflessness and sacrifice, they have helped ensure that |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | our country's promise will endure for generations to come; and |

| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Rene Alvarez |

| 17 | 17 | | joined the U.S. Army in 2008 and went on to complete his enlistment |

| 18 | 18 | | at the rank of staff sergeant E-6 in 2021; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Demonstrating exemplary dedication, Rene Alvarez |

| 20 | 20 | | upheld the highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces during his years |

| 21 | 21 | | in uniform, and his fellow citizens owe him a lasting debt of |

| 22 | 22 | | gratitude; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor Rene Alvarez for his |
