| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan and World |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | War II veteran is truly cause for celebration, and Gumercindo |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Zambrano of La Grulla marked that special milestone on |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | September 27, 2023; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, "Gume" Zambrano was born in 1923; he grew up in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | La Grulla, where he attended school, and through the decades he has |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | given back to his community by helping care for the La Grulla |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Cemetery; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Zambrano |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | proudly served as a U.S. Army radio operator during World War II; he |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | was stationed in the South Pacific during the battles at |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Guadalcanal, Bougainville, and New Guinea, and he returned home to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | La Grulla in 1946; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Zambrano exchanged wedding vows with the former |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Dora Solis, and they became the devoted parents of two sons and four |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | daughters; with the passage of time, he has experienced the joy of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | welcoming grandchildren and great-grandchildren into his treasured |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | family; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of a century, Gume Zambrano has not |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | only bravely served his nation but has also met the challenges and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | opportunities of a long life with grace and fortitude, and he is |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | blessed with the deep respect and lasting affection of a host of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | loved ones; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Gumercindo |

| 30 | 30 | | Zambrano on the joyous occasion of his 100th birthday and extend to |

| 31 | 31 | | him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
