44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, For the first time in school history, the Robstown
66 High School marching band has qualified for the University
77 Interscholastic League State Marching Band Contest; and
88 WHEREAS, The Cotton Picker Band earned advancement to the
99 state competition as a result of an outstanding showing at the Class
1010 4A Area E Marching Contest at Calallen High School in Corpus Christi
1111 on October 21, 2023, finishing ninth in the preliminary round and
1212 sixth in the finals among 36 competitors; and
1313 WHEREAS, Guided by marching band director Charles Cabrera,
1414 the Robstown High band will face off against the top marching bands
1515 in Texas at the state contest, which is being held at the Alamodome
1616 in San Antonio on November 1, 2023; and
1717 WHEREAS, The talented young performers of the Robstown High
1818 Cotton Picker Band have distinguished themselves through their hard
1919 work and dedication, and their recognition as one of the best
2020 marching bands in Texas is a source of tremendous pride to their
2121 school and their community; now, therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2323 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the Robstown
2424 High School Cotton Picker Band on advancing to the 2023 UIL 4A Open
2525 Class State Marching Band Contest and extend to its members sincere
2626 best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
2727 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2828 prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2929 House of Representatives.
