| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, For the first time in school history, the Robstown |

| 6 | 6 | | High School marching band has qualified for the University |

| 7 | 7 | | Interscholastic League State Marching Band Contest; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Cotton Picker Band earned advancement to the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | state competition as a result of an outstanding showing at the Class |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 4A Area E Marching Contest at Calallen High School in Corpus Christi |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | on October 21, 2023, finishing ninth in the preliminary round and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | sixth in the finals among 36 competitors; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Guided by marching band director Charles Cabrera, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the Robstown High band will face off against the top marching bands |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | in Texas at the state contest, which is being held at the Alamodome |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | in San Antonio on November 1, 2023; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The talented young performers of the Robstown High |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Cotton Picker Band have distinguished themselves through their hard |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | work and dedication, and their recognition as one of the best |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | marching bands in Texas is a source of tremendous pride to their |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | school and their community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the Robstown |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | High School Cotton Picker Band on advancing to the 2023 UIL 4A Open |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Class State Marching Band Contest and extend to its members sincere |

| 26 | 26 | | best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
