| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Alejandra Llanos of McAllen was named the 2023 |

| 6 | 6 | | National Youth of the Year by Boys & Girls Clubs of America; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The most prestigious honor conferred by Boys & Girls |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Clubs of America, the National Youth of the Year award recognizes |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | young citizens for their leadership, service, academic |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | achievement, and commitment to leading a healthy lifestyle; to be |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | selected for the accolade, a club member must first be recognized at |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the local, state, and regional levels; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A member of Boys & Girls Clubs of McAllen, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Ms. Llanos represented Texas and the Southwest Region; her |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | involvement in the Youth of the Year program has included serving as |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | a spokesperson for children and teenagers in her community; as part |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of that effort, she has met with legislators and advocated in behalf |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of her peers at the State Capitol; in addition, she gained valuable |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | experience through her work as a Boys & Girls Clubs junior staff |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | member; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Llanos is a graduate of Nikki Rowe High School, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | where she was a member of Business Professionals of America and the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | debate club and competed in the University Interscholastic League |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Accounting Contest; she also served on the student council, and she |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | further distinguished herself as class treasurer and student body |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | president; she is currently studying accounting at The University |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of Texas at Austin, and she plans to pursue a career in public |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | policy; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Alejandra Llanos has demonstrated commendable |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | drive, discipline, and maturity in working toward her goals, and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | she may indeed take great pride in this noteworthy recognition as |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | she looks ahead to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
