| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Recipients of this notable designation are chosen |

| 9 | 9 | | for demonstrating a strong commitment to continuous innovation and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | for their use of technology in fostering a supportive and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | challenging educational environment; Apple Distinguished Schools |

| 12 | 12 | | receive support through leadership events, collaboration with |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | other participating schools, and opportunities to engage with |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | experts; and |

| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The only all-magnet district in the state, South |

| 16 | 16 | | Texas ISD offers college preparation and hands-on career training |

| 17 | 17 | | to middle and high school students in Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy |

| 18 | 18 | | Counties; the district opened its Virtual Academy in 2021 to better |

| 19 | 19 | | meet the needs of residents in the Rio Grande Valley; led by |

| 20 | 20 | | principal Maribel Valdez, the school offers fully remote courses |

| 21 | 21 | | with curriculum and instruction designed specifically for virtual |

| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A quality education is critical to the continuing |

| 24 | 24 | | vitality of our state, and the teachers and staff of South Texas ISD |

| 25 | 25 | | Virtual Academy are helping their students to reach their full |

| 26 | 26 | | potential and to become engaged and productive members of their |
