| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Carlos Hipolito-Delgado, interim executive |

| 10 | 10 | | director of the Latino Research and Policy Center at the University |

| 11 | 11 | | of Colorado Denver, was a featured speaker at the event; designed to |

| 12 | 12 | | help students develop their leadership and decision-making skills, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the summit also has the goal of equipping youth with the tools |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | necessary to guide initiatives and important changes in their |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | schools and communities; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Carissa Duran is a senior at Americas High and is |

| 17 | 17 | | actively involved in the campus community; and |

| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has demonstrated |

| 19 | 19 | | exceptional drive and initiative and may indeed look forward to a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |

| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 22 | 22 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Carissa Duran for |

| 23 | 23 | | participating in the 2023 Youth Voice Empowerment Summit and extend |
