55 WHEREAS, Carissa Duran of Americas High School participated
66 in the inaugural Youth Voice Empowerment Summit held at El Paso
77 Community College's Mission Del Paso Campus on October 28, 2023;

99 WHEREAS, Dr. Carlos Hipolito-Delgado, interim executive
1010 director of the Latino Research and Policy Center at the University
1111 of Colorado Denver, was a featured speaker at the event; designed to
1212 help students develop their leadership and decision-making skills,
1313 the summit also has the goal of equipping youth with the tools
1414 necessary to guide initiatives and important changes in their
1515 schools and communities; and
1616 WHEREAS, Carissa Duran is a senior at Americas High and is
1717 actively involved in the campus community; and
1818 WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has demonstrated
1919 exceptional drive and initiative and may indeed look forward to a
2020 future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it
2121 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2222 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Carissa Duran for
2323 participating in the 2023 Youth Voice Empowerment Summit and extend
2424 to this exemplary student sincere best wishes for the future; and,
2525 be it further
2626 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2727 prepared for Carissa Duran as an expression of high regard by the
2828 Texas House of Representatives.
