| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The observance of Counseling Awareness Month in |

| 6 | 6 | | April 2024 provides an opportunity to recognize the many ways in |

| 7 | 7 | | which Texans of all ages benefit from the work of counseling |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | professionals; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Professional counselors provide a wide range of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | services to help people overcome mental health challenges and live |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | healthier and more productive lives; they currently make up the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | largest group of mental health providers in the state, with more |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | than 13,000 Certified School Counselors and 34,000 Licensed |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Professional Counselors and LPC Associates; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Individuals can access professional counseling |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | services through educational institutions, mental health agencies, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | community organizations, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | private practices, and other settings; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, By empowering people to address their |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | social-emotional needs and achieve their goals, professional |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | counselors play a vital role in strengthening our communities, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | it is indeed fitting to honor those who dedicate themselves to this |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | important calling; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby recognize April 2024 as |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Counseling Awareness Month and commend the state's professional |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | counselors for their exceptional work. |
