55 WHEREAS, The observance of Counseling Awareness Month in
66 April 2024 provides an opportunity to recognize the many ways in
77 which Texans of all ages benefit from the work of counseling
88 professionals; and
99 WHEREAS, Professional counselors provide a wide range of
1010 services to help people overcome mental health challenges and live
1111 healthier and more productive lives; they currently make up the
1212 largest group of mental health providers in the state, with more
1313 than 13,000 Certified School Counselors and 34,000 Licensed
1414 Professional Counselors and LPC Associates; and
1515 WHEREAS, Individuals can access professional counseling
1616 services through educational institutions, mental health agencies,
1717 community organizations, hospitals, rehabilitation centers,
1818 private practices, and other settings; and
1919 WHEREAS, By empowering people to address their
2020 social-emotional needs and achieve their goals, professional
2121 counselors play a vital role in strengthening our communities, and
2222 it is indeed fitting to honor those who dedicate themselves to this
2323 important calling; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2525 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby recognize April 2024 as
2626 Counseling Awareness Month and commend the state's professional
2727 counselors for their exceptional work.
