H.R. No. 27
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and enthusiasm drew to a close
with the passing of Sammie Eaton Hammers of La Porte on
September 27, 2023, at the age of 75; and
WHEREAS, Sammie Hammers was born on July 24, 1948; throughout
her life, she demonstrated remarkable resilience and optimism, even
in difficult circumstances, and she inspired countless others with
her warmth, compassion, grace, and kindness; she was a trusted
friend to many and was quick to extend a kind word or a listening
ear; and
WHEREAS, Above all else, Ms. Hammers was devoted to nurturing
and supporting her family; she was a loving mother to her four
children, Shaney, Kerie, Kathy, and Sean, and with the passing
years, she was blessed with nine grandchildren, Mathew, Jessica,
Beatrice, Chase, Myla, Noah, Michael, Matthew, and Edward, as well
as three great-grandchildren, Addison, Rya, and Archer; and
WHEREAS, A caring mother, grandmother, and friend, Sammie
Hammers brightened the world for all who knew her, and those who
held her dear will forever remember the love and happiness she
brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
of Sammie Eaton Hammers and extend heartfelt condolences to the
members of her family: to her children, Shaney Stover and her
husband, Marty, Kerie Bradford and her husband, James, Kathy
Downing and her husband, Brett, and Sean Hammers and his wife,
Stephanie; to her grandchildren, Mathew and Jessica Fetner,
Beatrice Potter, Chase and Myla Downing, Noah, Michael, and Matthew
Hammers, and Edward Hammers and his wife, Krystle; to her
great-grandchildren, Addison, Rya, and Archer Hammers; and to her
other relatives and many dear friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sammie
Hammers.
