44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Marvin Joe Angle, an esteemed attorney and a valued
66 member of the Jacksonville community, passed away on August 20,
77 2023, at the age of 77; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Marvin and Pauline Angle, Joe Angle was
99 born in Marshall on September 1, 1945, and he grew up with the
1010 companionship of three siblings, Delphine, John, and Donnie; after
1111 graduating from Nacogdoches High School in 1963, he received a
1212 bachelor's degree in history from Stephen F. Austin State
1313 University and a master's degree in history from The University of
1414 Texas at Austin; he went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force as a staff
1515 sergeant for four years before attending Baylor Law School, where
1616 he earned his juris doctor degree in 1976; and
1717 WHEREAS, Mr. Angle began his legal career at the Norman Law
1818 Firm, and he eventually became a partner; over the years, he
1919 developed a successful transactional law practice, and he
2020 specialized in the fields of real estate, probate, and estate
2121 planning law; he also served as Jacksonville's city attorney,
2222 gaining the respect and admiration of his colleagues for his
2323 professionalism and integrity; and
2424 WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Angle held leadership
2525 positions in numerous organizations, including the Jacksonville
2626 Rotary Club, the Jacksonville Public Library board, the Cherokee
2727 County Bar Association, the Jacksonville High School Band Boosters,
2828 the Jacksonville United Fund, Nan Travis Memorial Hospital, and the
2929 Cherokee County Republican Party; he was also a scoutmaster for
3030 local Scouts BSA troops; a man of deep faith, he served as an elder
3131 at Tyler Orthodox Presbyterian Church as well as at several other
3232 churches over the years; and
3333 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Angle enjoyed the love and
3434 support of his wife, Judy, with whom he shared a rewarding marriage
3535 that spanned five and a half decades; he took great pride in their
3636 children, John and Mary; and
3737 WHEREAS, Joe Angle lived a life that was rich in personal and
3838 professional achievements, and he will forever be a source of
3939 inspiration to those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
4040 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
4141 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
4242 of Marvin Joe Angle and extend sincere condolences to his loved
4343 ones; and, be it further
4444 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4545 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4646 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joe Angle.
