5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Joe Angle, an esteemed attorney and a valued |
---|
6 | 6 | | member of the Jacksonville community, passed away on August 20, |
---|
7 | 7 | | 2023, at the age of 77; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Marvin and Pauline Angle, Joe Angle was |
---|
9 | 9 | | born in Marshall on September 1, 1945, and he grew up with the |
---|
10 | 10 | | companionship of three siblings, Delphine, John, and Donnie; after |
---|
11 | 11 | | graduating from Nacogdoches High School in 1963, he received a |
---|
12 | 12 | | bachelor's degree in history from Stephen F. Austin State |
---|
13 | 13 | | University and a master's degree in history from The University of |
---|
14 | 14 | | Texas at Austin; he went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force as a staff |
---|
15 | 15 | | sergeant for four years before attending Baylor Law School, where |
---|
16 | 16 | | he earned his juris doctor degree in 1976; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Angle began his legal career at the Norman Law |
---|
18 | 18 | | Firm, and he eventually became a partner; over the years, he |
---|
19 | 19 | | developed a successful transactional law practice, and he |
---|
20 | 20 | | specialized in the fields of real estate, probate, and estate |
---|
21 | 21 | | planning law; he also served as Jacksonville's city attorney, |
---|
22 | 22 | | gaining the respect and admiration of his colleagues for his |
---|
23 | 23 | | professionalism and integrity; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Angle held leadership |
---|
25 | 25 | | positions in numerous organizations, including the Jacksonville |
---|
26 | 26 | | Rotary Club, the Jacksonville Public Library board, the Cherokee |
---|
27 | 27 | | County Bar Association, the Jacksonville High School Band Boosters, |
---|
28 | 28 | | the Jacksonville United Fund, Nan Travis Memorial Hospital, and the |
---|
29 | 29 | | Cherokee County Republican Party; he was also a scoutmaster for |
---|
30 | 30 | | local Scouts BSA troops; a man of deep faith, he served as an elder |
---|
31 | 31 | | at Tyler Orthodox Presbyterian Church as well as at several other |
---|
32 | 32 | | churches over the years; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Angle enjoyed the love and |
---|
34 | 34 | | support of his wife, Judy, with whom he shared a rewarding marriage |
---|
35 | 35 | | that spanned five and a half decades; he took great pride in their |
---|
36 | 36 | | children, John and Mary; and |
---|
37 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Joe Angle lived a life that was rich in personal and |
---|
38 | 38 | | professional achievements, and he will forever be a source of |
---|
39 | 39 | | inspiration to those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
---|
40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
41 | 41 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
---|
42 | 42 | | of Marvin Joe Angle and extend sincere condolences to his loved |
---|
43 | 43 | | ones; and, be it further |
---|
44 | 44 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
---|
45 | 45 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
---|
46 | 46 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joe Angle. |
