5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Anagha Deepak, a junior at Round Rock High School, |

7 | 7 | | United States Youth Ambassadors Program in Ecuador; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau |

9 | 9 | | of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Youth Ambassadors Program |
---|
10 | 10 | | brings together high school students and adult mentors from across |
---|
11 | 11 | | the western hemisphere to promote mutual understanding, increase |
---|
12 | 12 | | leadership skills, and foster a strong sense of civic |
---|
13 | 13 | | responsibility through in-person and virtual exchange programs; |
---|
14 | 14 | | and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, One of only 18 students selected to visit Ecuador |
---|
16 | 16 | | among thousands of applicants, Anagha Deepak was chosen based on |
---|
17 | 17 | | her exemplary record of service and leadership, as well as her |
---|
18 | 18 | | foreign language and critical thinking skills; as a youth |
---|
19 | 19 | | ambassador in Ecuador, she engaged in various workshops and was |
---|
20 | 20 | | actively involved in a number of community service initiatives, |
---|
21 | 21 | | such as volunteering at a local school and planting a tree in Cumbe; |
---|
22 | 22 | | she also immersed herself in the country's cultural practices and |
---|
23 | 23 | | met with personnel at the U.S. Consulate in Guayaquil in order to |
---|
24 | 24 | | present her ideas on multicultural areas that can help advance the |
---|
25 | 25 | | long-standing relationship between the U.S. and Ecuador; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, For the final phase of her journey as a youth |
---|
27 | 27 | | ambassador, Ms. Deepak is undertaking a project benefiting the |
---|
28 | 28 | | Greater Austin community this fall; in recognition of her many |
---|
29 | 29 | | achievements, she has accrued numerous accolades and awards, |
---|
30 | 30 | | including the President's Volunteer Service Gold Award, |
---|
31 | 31 | | Congressional Award Bronze and Silver Medals, and a Mayor's Special |
---|
32 | 32 | | Recognition Award from Round Rock mayor Craig Morgan; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Anagha Deepak has demonstrated remarkable drive and |
---|
34 | 34 | | initiative in working toward her goals, and she may indeed reflect |
---|
35 | 35 | | with pride on her accomplishments as she looks forward to a future |
---|
36 | 36 | | bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
---|
37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

38 | 38 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Anagha Deepak for |
