5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Jarin Thomas Cole of Killeen |
---|
6 | 6 | | on August 2, 2023, at the age of 22, brought an incalculable loss to |
---|
7 | 7 | | the family and friends of this beloved young man; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Darron and Tina Cole, Jarin Cole was born |
---|
9 | 9 | | on May 23, 2001; a talented musician from a young age, he played |
---|
10 | 10 | | multiple instruments, including the guitar, violin, and keyboard, |
---|
11 | 11 | | and he was a skilled vocalist; he was a member of the orchestra and |
---|
12 | 12 | | jazz band at Harker Heights High School, where he graduated in 2019, |
---|
13 | 13 | | and he went on to play in the jazz band at Temple College until his |
---|
14 | 14 | | graduation in 2021; at the time of his passing, he was a senior at |
---|
15 | 15 | | the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Known as JC Stringz, Mr. Cole performed with a |
---|
17 | 17 | | number of award-winning artists over the years, including the |
---|
18 | 18 | | Peterson Brothers, SaulPaul, Damien Escobar, and Daniel D.; |
---|
19 | 19 | | sustained by his deep faith, he was a member of the band at the |
---|
20 | 20 | | Greater Vision Community Church during his youth, and he later |
---|
21 | 21 | | played guitar at the Kingdom Empowerment Center while attending |
---|
22 | 22 | | Berklee; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Cole spearheaded a variety of community service |
---|
24 | 24 | | initiatives, including visits to nursing homes and senior centers, |
---|
25 | 25 | | fundraisers to support people in need, and holiday events for |
---|
26 | 26 | | children in foster care; he also played an important role in |
---|
27 | 27 | | supporting the Food Care Center; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Although Jarin Cole is greatly missed, his loved |
---|
29 | 29 | | ones will forever cherish their memories of his kindness, his |
---|
30 | 30 | | exceptional musical ability, and his devotion to his faith and his |
---|
31 | 31 | | community; now, therefore, be it |
---|
32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
33 | 33 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
---|
34 | 34 | | of Jarin Thomas Cole and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of |
---|
35 | 35 | | his family: to his parents, Darron and Tina Cole; to his |
---|
36 | 36 | | grandparents, Oliver and Bernice Cole; to his uncles, Sammie |

37 | 37 | | "Juncle" DuBose Jr. and his wife, April, Dana Cole and his wife, |

38 | 38 | | Stella, Derrick Cole, and Darryl Cole and his wife, Joy; to his |
