| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Former members of the Pasadena High School band are |

| 6 | 6 | | holding a reunion on November 3, 2023, to commemorate the 50th |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | anniversary of their performance in the Orange Bowl Parade; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, In 1973, the Pasadena High marching band received a |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | prestigious honor when it was invited to participate in the Orange |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Bowl Parade in Miami, Florida, on December 31 of that year; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The ensemble garnered widespread attention for the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Pasadena Independent School District with its appearance in the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | nationally televised Orange Bowl festivities, and it was presented |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | with a proclamation from Mayor Clyde Doyal designating May 10, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 1973, as Pasadena High School Band Day; the 2023 reunion will also |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | serve as a fundraiser for the current high school band; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, As they have gone their respective ways, the members |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of the 1973-1974 Pasadena High band have continued to cherish their |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | memories of their performance at the Orange Bowl Parade, and it is a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | pleasure to join in recognizing them for their enduring pride and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | school spirit; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 50th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | anniversary of the performance by the Pasadena High School marching |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | band in the 1973 Orange Bowl Parade and extend to the band's members |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | sincere appreciation for their participation in this noteworthy |
|---|

|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
