| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Officer Ronald Cronin of the Dallas Police |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Department demonstrated exceptional courage in the line of duty on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | July 25, 2022, when he risked his life to apprehend an armed suspect |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | at Dallas Love Field Airport; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A 15-year veteran of the department, Officer Cronin |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | was assigned to surveil the ticketing area at the airport, which was |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | occupied by more than 100 people that morning; at around 11 a.m., he |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | observed a woman causing a disturbance at one of the ticketing |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | counters; just as Officer Cronin was using his radio to request |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | backup, the suspect pulled out a handgun and began firing rounds |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | into the air; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, After taking cover, Officer Cronin witnessed the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | suspect continue to fire her weapon into the air, placing airport |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | patrons in danger; acting without hesitation, he discharged his |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | weapon at the suspect, immobilizing her and preventing the incident |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | from escalating; he then rendered emergency aid to the wounded |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | suspect, who survived and was taken into custody, as other officers |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | arrived to secure the scene; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Officer Ronald Cronin distinguished himself through |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | his efforts to bring a dangerous suspect to justice, and he is |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | indeed deserving of recognition for his tremendous bravery and his |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | unwavering resolve to keep his community safe; now, therefore, be |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Officer Ronald |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Cronin for his heroic actions in apprehending an armed suspect on |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | July 25, 2022, and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; |
