H.R. No. 54 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the passing of Patsie Lee Baugh Johnston of Junction, who passed away on September 6, 2023, at the age of 81; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Verree Westbrook and J. L. Baugh, the former Patsie Baugh was born in Kerrville on August 15, 1942, and grew up with two brothers, Jimmy and Joe David, and two sisters, Virginia "Ginger" and Cherry; she was a drum majorette at Junction High School and went on to become head baton twirler at San Angelo Junior College; in addition, she attended University of Phoenix and the George Washington University; and WHEREAS, Ms. Johnston was employed by AT&T for 33 years and loved her job, which involved travel around the country; the company sent her to Reno, Nevada, where she spent the last three years of her career as a diversity instructor, a position she found particularly rewarding; she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; and WHEREAS, Although she loved Reno and neighboring Lake Tahoe, Ms. Johnston moved back to her hometown upon retirement to take care of her aging parents; following their deaths, she returned to the workforce, serving with Farm Bureau for 22 years; she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Texas First Families, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and the Former Texas Rangers Association; and WHEREAS, Patsie Johnston is deeply missed, but she has left her family and friends with a wealth of memories that they will forever treasure; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Patsie Lee Baugh Johnston and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her daughter, Tambra Baker; to her grandson, Patrick Cody Johnston; to her granddaughters, Tia and Chy; to her siblings, Cherry Hodges and Joe David Baugh; to her sister-in-law, Jeri Baugh; to her nieces, Jody Baugh and Jayme Jendrusch and her husband, Doug; to her nephew, Jim Ed Baugh, and his wife, Katy; to her grandnephews, Heath and Kevin; to her grandniece, Kynzie; to her cousins, Judy Murr and Rheba Wall Massey; to her lifelong friends, Joanna Laake, Margaret Handy, and Diane Woodward; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Patsie Johnston.
