5	5	WHEREAS, San Antonio district engineer Gina E. Gallegos is
6	6	retiring from the Texas Department of Transportation on
7	7	December 31, 2023, drawing to a close an exceptional career with
8	8	the agency that has spanned nearly three decades; and
9	9	WHEREAS, Gina Gallegos graduated from Texas A&M University
10	10	with a civil engineering degree in 1993; she began her career with
11	11	TxDOT the following year, working as an engineering assistant in
12	12	the Bexar Metro Area Office of the San Antonio District until 2006,
13	13	when she was promoted to area engineer; in 2010, she became the
14	14	district's director of construction and served as the advisor for
15	15	the engineering assistant program; seven years later, she was
16	16	appointed director of the Construction Division, where she oversaw
17	17	such areas as contractor prequalification and bid analysis and
18	18	provided training for the highway improvement program; and
19	19	WHEREAS, In 2021, Ms. Gallegos assumed her current title of
20	20	district engineer for the San Antonio District, which operates and
21	21	maintains the state transportation system in a 12-county region;
22	22	greatly distinguishing herself in this role, she has helped guide
23	23	the expansions of Loop 1604 North, Interstate 35 Northeast, and
24	24	U.S. Highway 281 North as well as other mobility projects designed
25	25	to ease traffic congestion through vital corridors; and
26	26	WHEREAS, Ms. Gallegos is the recipient of the 2022
27	27	Outstanding Women in Texas Government Award; she has also garnered
28	28	the Women's Transportation Seminar-San Antonio Region Woman of the
29	29	Year Award, the WTS-SAR Innovative Transportation Solutions Award,
30	30	and the Gibb Gilchrist Award, which recognizes TxDOT engineers for
31	31	their outstanding service; and
32	32	WHEREAS, The leadership, expertise, and commitment to
33	33	excellence demonstrated by Gina Gallegos have greatly benefited the
34	34	people of Texas and earned her the respect and admiration of her
35	35	colleagues, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her exemplary
36	36	record of achievement; now, therefore, be it
37	37	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
38	38	Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate
39	39	Gina E. Gallegos on her retirement as the San Antonio district
40	40	engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation and extend to
41	41	her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
42	42	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
43	43	prepared for Ms. Gallegos as an expression of high regard by the
44	44	Texas House of Representatives.
