5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |

6 | 6 | | passing of Ramiro Humberto Gamboa Sr. of Corpus Christi on July 6, |

7 | 7 | | 2023, at the age of 73; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Gambi," Ramiro Gamboa was |
---|
9 | 9 | | born in Laredo on July 20, 1949, to Dolores and Antonietta Gamboa, |
---|
10 | 10 | | and he grew up with the companionship of four siblings, Javier, |
---|
11 | 11 | | Gerardo, Juanita, and Antonia; he graduated from Martin High School |
---|
12 | 12 | | in 1968 and subsequently began studies at Mercy Hospital to become |
---|
13 | 13 | | an X-ray technician, earning his credentials in 1969; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Gamboa enjoyed a lengthy career as a surgical |
---|
15 | 15 | | radiology technician at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus |
---|
16 | 16 | | Christi-Shoreline that spanned nearly five decades; a highly |
---|
17 | 17 | | regarded and passionate champion for civil rights and the education |
---|
18 | 18 | | of the Latino community, he gave generously of his time and talents |
---|
19 | 19 | | to the League of United Latin American Citizens Council No. 1; he |
---|
20 | 20 | | first became involved with the organization in the 1970s, and over |
---|
21 | 21 | | the years, he worked tirelessly to defend the rights of Hispanic |
---|
22 | 22 | | Americans, joining forces with a number of city, state, and |
---|
23 | 23 | | national elected officials and community leaders in order to create |
---|
24 | 24 | | social and economic change; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Gamboa enjoyed the love |
---|
26 | 26 | | and support of his wife of 54 years, Guadalupe; he was the devoted |
---|
27 | 27 | | father of four children, Ramiro, Jessica, Gabriel, and Christopher, |
---|
28 | 28 | | and with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family |
---|
29 | 29 | | grow to include nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; |
---|
30 | 30 | | his life was further enriched by his beloved dog, Miguel; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, While the death of Ramiro Gamboa brings immeasurable |
---|
32 | 32 | | sorrow to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that |
---|
33 | 33 | | will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, |
---|
34 | 34 | | therefore, be it |

35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
36 | 36 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |
---|
37 | 37 | | Ramiro Humberto Gamboa Sr. and extend sincere condolences to his |
---|
38 | 38 | | loved ones; and, be it further |

39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

40 | 40 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |

41 | 41 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ramiro |
