10 | 10 | | 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division of the Marine Corps |

11 | 11 | | Forces Reserve in Corpus Christi, Texas; he was assigned to the |

12 | 12 | | Division in April of 2021, and on September 15, 2023, he was |

13 | 13 | | transferred to the 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment at the Naval |

14 | 14 | | Reserve Center in Houston, Texas, where he assumed his post as |

15 | 15 | | Inspector-Instructor Sergeant Major, a senior enlisted rank in the |

16 | 16 | | United States Marines; and |

17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Major Sanchez joined the U.S. Marine Corps |

18 | 18 | | in 2004 and was first assigned to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina as |

19 | 19 | | a military police corrections specialist; in the succeeding years, |

20 | 20 | | he served in such roles as senior drill instructor and duty brig |
---|
21 | 21 | | supervisor and was promoted to Corporal, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, |
---|
22 | 22 | | Gunnery Sergeant, and First Sergeant, and in 2012, he was |
---|
23 | 23 | | transferred to the 1st Law Enforcement Battalion; he deployed to |
---|
24 | 24 | | Afghanistan in 2013 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and |
---|
25 | 25 | | the following year, he reported to the Marine Security Guard School |
---|
26 | 26 | | in Quantico, Virginia, where he distinguished himself as an honor |
---|
27 | 27 | | graduate and high shooter; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, After serving as the capital Detachment Commander |
---|
29 | 29 | | for U.S. consulates in China and Mexico, Sergeant Major Sanchez was |
---|
30 | 30 | | named senior corrections counselor at Camp Pendleton, California; |
---|
31 | 31 | | in 2020, he assumed the duties of an Alpha Company First Sergeant, |

32 | 32 | | preparing his unit for the Southwest Border Mission, and he |
---|
33 | 33 | | recently helped oversee the mobilization of the 1st Battalion, 23rd |

34 | 34 | | Marine Regiment in support of Operation Allies Welcome; his awards |

35 | 35 | | include the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and |
---|
36 | 36 | | Achievement Medal; actively engaged in his community, he has been |

37 | 37 | | involved with Toys for Tots in Nueces County, among numerous other |
---|
38 | 38 | | initiatives; and |

39 | 39 | | WHEREAS, The exceptional leadership demonstrated by Sergeant |
---|
40 | 40 | | Major Hector Sanchez has greatly benefited the U.S. Marine Corps |
---|
41 | 41 | | and Company C, and he may indeed reflect with pride on all that he |
---|
42 | 42 | | has accomplished as he takes on the challenges and opportunities of |

43 | 43 | | his new rank and assignment; now, therefore, be it |

44 | 44 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

45 | 45 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Hector |
