44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, First Sergeant Hector A. Sanchez of the United
66 States Marine Corps was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major (E9)
77 at a ceremony on August 4, 2023; and
88 WHEREAS, Previously, Sergeant Major Hector Sanchez served as
99 Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant for Company C, 1st Battalion,
1010 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division of the Marine Corps
1111 Forces Reserve in Corpus Christi, Texas; he was assigned to the
1212 Division in April of 2021, and on September 15, 2023, he was
1313 transferred to the 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment at the Naval
1414 Reserve Center in Houston, Texas, where he assumed his post as
1515 Inspector-Instructor Sergeant Major, a senior enlisted rank in the
1616 United States Marines; and
1717 WHEREAS, Sergeant Major Sanchez joined the U.S. Marine Corps
1818 in 2004 and was first assigned to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina as
1919 a military police corrections specialist; in the succeeding years,
2020 he served in such roles as senior drill instructor and duty brig
2121 supervisor and was promoted to Corporal, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant,
2222 Gunnery Sergeant, and First Sergeant, and in 2012, he was
2323 transferred to the 1st Law Enforcement Battalion; he deployed to
2424 Afghanistan in 2013 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and
2525 the following year, he reported to the Marine Security Guard School
2626 in Quantico, Virginia, where he distinguished himself as an honor
2727 graduate and high shooter; and
2828 WHEREAS, After serving as the capital Detachment Commander
2929 for U.S. consulates in China and Mexico, Sergeant Major Sanchez was
3030 named senior corrections counselor at Camp Pendleton, California;
3131 in 2020, he assumed the duties of an Alpha Company First Sergeant,
3232 preparing his unit for the Southwest Border Mission, and he
3333 recently helped oversee the mobilization of the 1st Battalion, 23rd
3434 Marine Regiment in support of Operation Allies Welcome; his awards
3535 include the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and
3636 Achievement Medal; actively engaged in his community, he has been
3737 involved with Toys for Tots in Nueces County, among numerous other
3838 initiatives; and
3939 WHEREAS, The exceptional leadership demonstrated by Sergeant
4040 Major Hector Sanchez has greatly benefited the U.S. Marine Corps
4141 and Company C, and he may indeed reflect with pride on all that he
4242 has accomplished as he takes on the challenges and opportunities of
4343 his new rank and assignment; now, therefore, be it
4444 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
4545 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Hector
4646 A. Sanchez on his promotion to Sergeant Major in the U.S. Marine
4747 Corps and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in
4848 his important work and service to country; Semper Fi!; and, be it

5050 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5151 prepared for Sergeant Major Sanchez as an expression of high regard
5252 by the Texas House of Representatives.
