| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at |

| 6 | 6 | | the loss of Lieutenant Milton Gabriel Resendez of the San Benito |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Police Department, who died in the line of duty on October 17, 2023, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | at the age of 54; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born to Meliton and Susana M. Resendez on |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | September 2, 1969, Milton Resendez grew up with the companionship |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | of his five siblings, José, Terry, Mauricio, Xavier, and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Jacqueline; after graduating from San Benito High School, he |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | attended Texas Southmost College and the Lower Rio Grande Valley |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Development Council Police Academy on the way to a career in law |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | enforcement; he was employed with the Brownsville and Palm Valley |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Police Departments before joining the San Benito Consolidated |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Independent School District's police force, and he spent the last |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 26 years of his career with the San Benito Police Department; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Lieutenant Resendez found great fulfillment in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | protecting and serving the residents of his hometown of San Benito, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and he demonstrated tremendous courage and devotion to duty up |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | until the final moments of his life; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with a family whom he adored, Lieutenant |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Resendez shared 27 years of marriage with the love of his life, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Melissa G. Resendez, and he enjoyed the affection of many nieces, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | nephews, and godchildren; he was an avid comic book and toy |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | collector, and he also took pleasure in gardening, watching movies, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans, and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | listening to his favorite band, KISS; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Serving the community he loved with honor and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | dedication, Milton Resendez embodied the highest ideals of his |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | profession, and his heroism and sacrifice will long be remembered |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | by all those whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | of Lieutenant Milton Gabriel Resendez and extend heartfelt sympathy |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | to his family, his friends, and his brothers and sisters in blue; |
