44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at
66 the loss of Lieutenant Milton Gabriel Resendez of the San Benito
77 Police Department, who died in the line of duty on October 17, 2023,
88 at the age of 54; and
99 WHEREAS, Born to Meliton and Susana M. Resendez on
1010 September 2, 1969, Milton Resendez grew up with the companionship
1111 of his five siblings, José, Terry, Mauricio, Xavier, and
1212 Jacqueline; after graduating from San Benito High School, he
1313 attended Texas Southmost College and the Lower Rio Grande Valley
1414 Development Council Police Academy on the way to a career in law
1515 enforcement; he was employed with the Brownsville and Palm Valley
1616 Police Departments before joining the San Benito Consolidated
1717 Independent School District's police force, and he spent the last
1818 26 years of his career with the San Benito Police Department; and
1919 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Resendez found great fulfillment in
2020 protecting and serving the residents of his hometown of San Benito,
2121 and he demonstrated tremendous courage and devotion to duty up
2222 until the final moments of his life; and
2323 WHEREAS, Blessed with a family whom he adored, Lieutenant
2424 Resendez shared 27 years of marriage with the love of his life,
2525 Melissa G. Resendez, and he enjoyed the affection of many nieces,
2626 nephews, and godchildren; he was an avid comic book and toy
2727 collector, and he also took pleasure in gardening, watching movies,
2828 cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans, and
2929 listening to his favorite band, KISS; and
3030 WHEREAS, Serving the community he loved with honor and
3131 dedication, Milton Resendez embodied the highest ideals of his
3232 profession, and his heroism and sacrifice will long be remembered
3333 by all those whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3535 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
3636 of Lieutenant Milton Gabriel Resendez and extend heartfelt sympathy
3737 to his family, his friends, and his brothers and sisters in blue;
3838 and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4040 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4141 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Milton
4242 Resendez.
