| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 662.0815 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 662.0815. HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE DAY. (a) The | |
| 13 | 13 | second Saturday in October is Hospice and Palliative Care Day to | |
| 14 | 14 | bring awareness to the role of hospice and palliative care in | |
| 15 | 15 | optimizing the quality of life for seriously ill patients and their | |
| 16 | 16 | families. | |
| 17 | 17 | (b) Hospice and Palliative Care Day may be regularly | |
| 18 | 18 | observed by appropriate ceremonies and activities. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect on the 91st day after the | |
| 20 | 20 | last day of the legislative session. |
