| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | passing of Robert Mirk Ellis of Friendswood on October 30, 2023, at |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the age of 80; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Robert Ellis was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on May 23, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 1943; he earned a master's degree in business administration from |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the University of Dayton and began working in space life sciences in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 1967, at a company then called Technology Inc.; later renamed Wyle |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Integrated Science and Engineering Group, the business worked with |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | NASA to study the cardiovascular health of astronauts, and it grew |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | to employ 1,300 people; he retired as group president after 45 years |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | with the company; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with a devoted family, Mr. Ellis shared a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | rewarding relationship with his wife, Mary, that spanned nearly 47 |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | years, and he took great pride in their four children, nine |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A man of faith, Mr. Ellis was actively involved in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | his church, and he served as an administrator for many years; he was |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | also a dedicated coach to his children's baseball teams, and in his |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | leisure time, he enjoyed collecting cards and coins and tending to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | his garden, which included over 100 varieties of roses; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Although Robert Ellis is deeply missed, he will |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | forever be remembered with great admiration for his professional |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | achievements and for the myriad ways he gave of himself to benefit |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | others; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert Mirk |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Ellis and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | and, be it further |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of |
