 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The passing of Dr. Corbett Kennard Stephens of Tyler
 on June 13, 2023, at the age of 48, brought an immeasurable loss to
 his family and friends; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Tyler on September 11, 1974, Cory Stephens
 was the son of Penny Stephens and Dr. Marvin Stephens, an
 orthodontist; he grew up with the company of two siblings, Trey and
 Brooke; as a boy, he dreamed of following in his father's footsteps,
 and he began helping to clean his office during summers in order to
 observe his work; he graduated with honors from The University of
 Texas at Austin and completed the orthodontic program at Baylor
 College of Dentistry in 2003; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Stephens began practicing with his father, and
 Stephens and Stephens Orthodontics thrived in both Tyler and
 Lindale; "Dr. Cory" loved caring for his patients, and he served
 his profession in a number of capacities, including as president of
 the Smith County Dental Society, as a diplomate of the American
 Board of Orthodontics, and as an active member of the Baylor College
 of Dentistry Orthodontic Alumni Association; in addition, he was a
 member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society,
 the American Association of Orthodontists, the Edward H. Angle
 Society of Orthodontists, and the Charles H. Tweed International
 Foundation for Orthodontic Research and Education; he received the
 Scholastic Achievement Award from the Psi Omega Dental Fraternity;
 and
 WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Dr. Stephens served as
 president of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-North Texas Chapter,
 and he was a member of the Tyler Rose Festival's Order of the Rose;
 he was a man of faith, having grown up attending Marvin Methodist
 Church; he loved spending time with his family, especially at the
 lake house, where he taught many people how to water ski, or hunting
 at the ranch; his yellow lab, "Miss Bree," was his constant
 companion; and
 WHEREAS, Although Cory Stephens is deeply missed, he has left
 his family and friends with many cherished memories, and he will
 forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd
 Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Dr. Corbett
 Kennard Stephens and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
 family: to his mother, Penny Kennard Stephens; to his sister,
 Brooke Marie Stephens; to his niece, Marlee Blythe Stephens; to his
 aunt and uncle, Dr. Jerry Lehmann and Janie Lehmann; to his cousin,
 Dr. Melissa Leigh Lehmann; and to all who mourn his passing; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
 day, it do so in memory of Cory Stephens.
