5+ SENATE RESOLUTION
26 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
37 recognize Odyssey Academy on the occasion of the school's 25th
48 anniversary, which is being celebrated on October 14, 2023; and
59 WHEREAS, Odyssey Academy was established in 1998 when
6- Robert A. Mosbacher Sr., the founder of Mosbacher Energy
7- Company and a former United States secretary of commerce,
8- secured a charter for the school from the Texas State Board of
9- Education; the following year, Odyssey Academy opened as an
10- open-enrollment, public middle school; the academy soon grew
11- to encompass prekindergarten through eighth grade classes, and
12- in 2009, the current Galveston campus was established; high
13- school grades were added in 2013, and the school produced its
14- first graduating class four years later; and
15- WHEREAS, Odyssey Academy features a curriculum focused
16- on the development of leadership and problem-solving skills,
17- with an emphasis on the STEAM subjects of science, technology,

2226 WHEREAS, Over the past eight years, Odyssey Academy has
2327 expanded its reach by adding additional locations; in 2015, it
2428 launched the Bay Area campus in El Lago, which serves
2529 prekindergarten through seventh grade students across 14 school
2630 districts, and in 2020, it opened the Texas City campus, which
2731 offers prekindergarten through eighth grade classes; and
2832 WHEREAS, For a quarter century, Odyssey Academy has
2933 provided young Texans with a solid educational foundation that
3034 enables them to reach their full potential and become productive
3135 and engaged members of their communities, and the school is
3236 indeed deserving of recognition as it celebrates this special
3337 milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it
3438 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
3539 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend all who have
3640 contributed to Odyssey Academy's proud legacy of excellence in
37- education and extend to all congratulations on the school's
38- 25th anniversary and best wishes for continued success in the
39- future; and, be it further

4044 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
