| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | passing of Claude Wayne Webb Sr. of Mineola on May 30, 2023, at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the age of 89; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of William Carl Lewis and Helen Webb Cook, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Claude Webb was born on October 4, 1933, and he grew up with the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | companionship of a sister, Pat; he was a member of the varsity |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | basketball team at Morgan High School, where he graduated in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 1952; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Webb worked as a truck driver for a supply |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | company before taking on a role in management; he went on to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | establish his own business, and under his able leadership, the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | company grew to encompass three stores; he was later offered a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | position as a manufacturer's representative; active in his |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | community, he was involved in the Mineola Masonic Lodge and the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Sharon Shrine temple; he was also a longtime member of the First |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Baptist Church in Mineola, where he volunteered in the nursery; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In 1952, Mr. Webb met the love of his life, the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | former Elva Jo Lewis, and the couple were wed in December 1953; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | they shared a fulfilling marriage that spanned more than six and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | a half decades until Mrs. Webb's passing in 2019; Mr. Webb took |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | great pride in their two children, Claude and Loraine, and over |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the years, he had the pleasure of welcoming into his family nine |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | grandchildren, Alex, Rebekah, Andrew, Emily, Jessica, Caroline, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Hondo, Jackson, and Katie, and six great-grandchildren, Hannah, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Jake, John, Claire, Joseph, and Sophia; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, In his leisure hours, Mr. Webb attended his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's numerous sports |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | events, and he traveled across Texas as well as out of state to |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | watch them play; he also loved NASCAR, golf, and games such as |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | dominoes and cards, and he enjoyed visiting Cedar Lake Creek; and |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Although Claude Webb is greatly missed, this |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | beloved man has left his family and friends with many cherished |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | memories, and he will forever hold a special place in their |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | of Claude Wayne Webb Sr. and extend heartfelt sympathy to his |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | family and many friends; and, be it further |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | this day, it do so in memory of Claude Webb. |
