2	6		WHEREAS, Sidney Lanier High School in the San Antonio
3		-	Independent School District is celebrating its 100th anniversary
4		-	in 2023; and

5	9		WHEREAS, The campus traces its origins to 1915, when it was
6	10		established as McKinley Elementary; named for American poet,
7		-	author, and musician Sidney Lanier, it became Lanier Junior
8		-	School in 1923, when the junior school system was first
9		-	implemented; in 1929, the school expanded to include both junior
10		-	high and high school grade levels, and it remained a six-year
11		-	campus until its junior high students transferred to a new school
12		-	in 1969; Sidney Lanier High School's current campus opened in
13		-	1975; and
	11	+	author, and musician Sidney Lanier, it became Lanier Junior School

17	20		leadership of its principal, Dr. Ricky Flores; and
18		-	WHEREAS, For the past century, Sidney Lanier High School
19		-	has provided its students with a strong educational foundation on
20		-	which to build, and it has made a positive and lasting difference
21		-	in the lives of generations of San Antonio residents; now,
22		-	therefore, be it
23		-	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
24		-	Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 100th
25		-	anniversary of Sidney Lanier High School and extend to the
26		-	school's faculty, staff, and students sincere best wishes for the
27		-	future; and, be it further
	21	+	WHEREAS, For the past century, Sidney Lanier High School has
