55 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
66 WHEREAS, The Carver Center in the Midland Independent School
77 District has been named the top charter elementary school in Texas
88 for 2023 by U.S. News and World Report; and
99 WHEREAS, This prestigious recognition is based on reading and
1010 math proficiency and performance data, which reports that
1111 89 percent of Carver students have met or surpassed expectations
1212 for math while 93 percent have scored at or above that level in
1313 reading; the campus also ranked fourth among all elementary schools
1414 in the state, coming in second in reading and seventh in math; and
1515 WHEREAS, Led by executive administrator Stephanie Carnett,
1616 the Carver Center serves students in first through sixth grade; to
1717 gain admission to the school, students must test into the Midland
1818 ISD gifted and talented program in addition to demonstrating
1919 advanced reasoning skills and high achievement; and
2020 WHEREAS, Through hard work and perseverance, the teachers and
2121 students of the Carver Center have established a record of
2222 scholastic excellence, and they are indeed deserving of this most
2323 recent honor; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas,
2525 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the Carver Center on its
2626 selection as the top charter elementary school in Texas for 2023 by
2727 U.S. News and World Report and extend to all those associated with
2828 the campus sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
2929 further
3030 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3131 prepared for the Carver Center as an expression of high regard by
3232 the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
