56 WHEREAS, Jerod Foster is receiving a Distinguished Alumni
67 Award from the Texas Tech Alumni Association on November 17, 2023;
78 and
89 WHEREAS, Each year, the Texas Tech Alumni Association honors
910 graduates of Texas Tech University who have made a significant
1011 impact on the lives of others through their professional
1112 achievements and community involvement; and
1213 WHEREAS, Jerod Foster is an award-winning travel and
1314 conservation photographer, filmmaker, and producer, and his
1415 clients have included The Nature Conservancy, the Bullock Texas
1516 State History Museum, Texas Monthly, and The New York Times; early
1617 in his career, he was employed at the Texas Techsan magazine, and he
1718 currently serves as an associate professor of practice in the
1819 College of Media and Communication at Texas Tech University; and
1920 WHEREAS, Mr. Foster has authored seven books on photography
2021 and visual storytelling, including Between Two Rivers: Photography
2122 and Poems Between the Brazos and the Rio Grande, which was published
2223 by Texas Tech Press and was recognized among the top 100 university
2324 press books in 2020 by Literary Hub; he is also in the process of
2425 producing a documentary on the endangered lesser prairie chicken as
2526 well as a large-scale documentary series on exploring the Great
2627 Plains via cycling; he holds a doctorate in mass communications;
2728 and
2829 WHEREAS, The accomplishments of noteworthy alumni are a
2930 source of great pride to all those associated with Texas Tech, and
3031 Jerod Foster is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now,
3132 therefore, be it
3233 RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas,
3334 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Jerod Foster on being named
3435 a Distinguished Alumni by the Texas Tech Alumni Association and
3536 extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
3637 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3738 prepared for Mr. Foster as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3839 House of Representatives and Senate.
